Commander's Wingman of Choice: Keyes

  • Published

Tech. Sgt. Twyla Keyes, 363 Training Squadron curriculum development manager and unit training manager and native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, has been in the Air Force for fourteen and a half years and is the commander’s Wingman of Choice at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of February 1 – 5, 2016.

Keyes’ hobbies include quality time with family, working out, reading, school and attending church. One of her greatest accomplishments is earning her MBA in Human Resource Management at Wayland Baptist University. Keyes says she is inspired by her family and their unfailing love and support.

“I love being a wife and mommy, even when I want to give up, I cannot,” Keyes said. “ I have a husband who is very supportive of my career and loves seeing me do great things, and two beautiful little people who are constantly watching my every move, depending on me to lead them.  They are a constant reminder from God that I can go on, I can be who I want to be, and I can continue to do great things.  I know where I’ve been, but I also know where I’m going and I won’t stop until I get there.  My success is not measured by the things I have, but by the lives I touch along the way!”

Keyes' goals include earning the rank of Master Sergeant, completing PMC/HR certifications and starting her Doctorate degree.

She says that her greatest accomplishment is her ability to maintain her strength and values, both professional and personal, throughout many obstacles, all while being a devoted wife, mother, Airmen, and mentor; accomplishing my goals along the way.

“I don’t quit!” Keyes said.

Commander’s Comments

“TSgt Keyes is a ‘go-to’ person,’ said Lt. Col. Lahey, 363 TRS commander. “She brilliantly multitasks at numerous levels. She led two recent U&TWs, provided training data and updates for the squadron and group, assisted with recent MLK luncheon, mentored instructors on the use of electronic testing, and led a course related training session for a flight containing over 45 people. She does all of this with remarkable professionalism, service before self and a dedication to the mission that inspires many of her co-workers!”
