Tax Center volunteer of the week Published Feb. 5, 2016 By Staff Reports 82nd Training Wing SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Mrs. Belinda Kenne has been named the Sheppard Air Force Base Tax Center volunteer of the week for the week of Feb. 1-5, 2016. A returning volunteer, her dedication and experience made all the difference to our clients during opening week. Sheppard Air Force Base Tax Center is lucky to have her and we appreciate everything she does. She’s a prime example of how our outstanding military spouses contribute to the well-being of our base and community. Q & A with Mrs. Belinda Kenne: What inspired you to volunteer for the tax center? Last year I was taking classes to get my bachelor’s degree in accounting and Mrs. Genevieve Anderson told me about this opportunity to get trained on how to do taxes and provide that training for free to military and their families. I was a full time student but stay at home mom at the time and knew it would also be a great learning opportunity for me to learn and help. What do you enjoy the most about volunteering? I really like being around people of all walks of life. I enjoy meeting people and helping them in a way that saves them a lot of money and hopefully making it a bit easier on them during a somewhat stressful time. Do you have any advice for those thinking about volunteering? It is a great learning opportunity, you learn how to simply file taxes, ways to save money, and a more in-depth look at how it all works. It may seem very intimidating at first. However, the class is very informative and gives you all of the tools that you will need to accomplish filing taxes.
