2015 AETC Technical Training and Inspector General Awards Announced Published March 22, 2016 By staff reports 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command recently announced the winners of the 2015 AETC Flying and Technical Training Annual Awards and the 2015 AETC Inspector General Awards competitions. Of the 19 total flying and training awards given, three were awarded to Sheppard members: Technical Training Civilian Instructor of the Year: Mr. Kenneth Szostek Jr., 82nd Training Wing, 363rd Training Squadron instructor Training Support SNCO of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Justin D. McGillis, 82nd Training Wing, 372nd Training Squadron flight chief Training Support NCO of the Year: Tech. Sgt. John Guerra, 82 Training Wing, 366th Training Squadron course developer The AETC technical training awards recognize exceptional performance of instructors and flight commanders or flight chiefs in formal schools that teach officially designated technical training courses. The AETC training support awards recognize exceptional performance of personnel who perform duties in a flying, basic military, or technical training specific support function. Of the three award categories for the Inspector General competition, one was awarded to a Sheppard unit: Maj. Gen. John P. Flynn Award: 82nd Training Wing, Inspector General Complaints Resolution, category I The Maj. Gen. John P. Flynn Award recognizes the IG Complains Resolution program office that embodies the six fundamental characteristics of Flynn’s leadership model: integrity, justice, compassion, loyalty, courage and spirit. As a part of AETC, Sheppard Air Force Base is the most diverse training base in the Air Force. Its two primary missions include the Air Force’s largest technical training operation along with the world’s only internationally manned and managed pilot training program. The 82nd TRW delivers more than 60,000 officer and enlisted technical training graduates annually in more than 900 courses. With 61 training detachments on three continents, the 82nd TRW is a massive, global training operation. The 80th Flying Training Wing is home to the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. Now in its 35th year, ENJJPT is considered the premiere fighter pilot training program in the world. Since its inception, ENJJPT has produced more than 7,000 trained combat pilots for the NATO Alliance. With the diversity and impact that Sheppard provides to the U.S. Air Force, there isn’t an airframe in the Air Force’s inventory that Sheppard hasn’t touched.
