The Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s senior enlisted advisor is making sure airmen at Sheppard Air Force Base get the products they deserve—whether shopping on base or online.

While visiting Sheppard March 24- 25, Chief Master Sgt. Sean Applegate met with Col. Timothy Gillaspie, 82nd Training Wing vice commander; and Chief Master Sgt. Joseph Pritchard, 82nd Training Wing command chief to address how the Exchange can better serve airmen. Applegate also toured Exchange facilities and met with Exchange managers and associates.

“I always look forward to visiting airmen in person and hearing how we can customize Exchange support,” Applegate said. “The Exchange is here for the Sheppard community, and we’re committed to providing exceptional service.”

If airmen can’t find a product, the Sheppard Exchange can order the item from another Exchange and have it sent to Sheppard for free through the store’s shuttle program.

“Through the Exchange’s shuttle program, Sheppard shoppers enjoy the same selection and savings that shoppers at larger installations experience,” Applegate said. “If airmen can’t find what they need, all they have to do is ask a manager to see if the item can be shipped from another location. It’s that easy.”

Sheppard shoppers can also find an expanded product assortment on the Exchange’s online site, shopmyexchange.com. The site was recently upgraded with improved navigation, extended product selection and faster shipping, with orders received by noon shipping the very same day.

“The Exchange’s shopping site is more interactive, and an improved search feature makes it easy to find products,” Applegate said. “What’s more, shopmyexchange.com carries a wide assortment of national brands, putting Michael Kors, GoPro, Disney, Apple and Bose just a click away.”

Airmen receive free shipping on orders of $50 or more—but shipping is always free when paying with a MILITARY STAR card. The MILITARY STAR card also rewards airmen and their families each time they use the card both online and in-store.

“Cardholders earn two points for every $1 spent in Exchange stores, food courts, mall vendors and on shopmyexchange.com,” Applegate said.

Shoppers receive a $20 Exchange rewards card for every 2,000 points earned, and the rewards card can be redeemed anywhere Exchange gift cards are accepted.

The Exchange’s prices are very competitive, Chief Applegate said, and shoppers can find name brands online at www.shopmyexchange.com.

“These competitive prices coupled with tax-free savings in-store and online give shoppers tremendous value,” he said.

Every time airmen shop the Exchange, whether on base on online, they are generating money to make Sheppard a better place to live and work.

“For every dollar earned, historically 67 cents comes back to the military community through Air Force Services dividends,” Applegate said. “Last year, sales at the Sheppard Exchange generated nearly $469,123 on behalf of Services programs. Every time shoppers go to an Exchange, they are improving their entire military community.”

Applegate is one of 35 active-duty service members assigned to the Exchange. The Exchange also employs about 35,000 civilian associates worldwide.
