Sheppard Airmen aid local Boys and Girls Club in renovations Published Sept. 7, 2016 By Senior Airman Robert L. McIlrath 82nd Training Wing Public Affairs SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Airman 1st Class Cerina Cleveland, 365th Training Squadron student, chips away at old paint at the Boys and Girls Club of Wichita Falls, Texas, Aug 15, 2016. Several Airmen from Sheppard Air Force Base volunteered to help paint and clean the building during its one week closure in preparation for the new school year. Lt. Col. Arnold Bowen, 365th TRS commander, decided to see if there was a way Sheppard could help complete the daunting task of cleaning and painting an entire facility in a week. “We had students and instructors from different squadrons that really wanted to help,” Bowen said. “I picked up a paint stick and got right to work with them.” With the help of Sheppard volunteers along with the six to eight person staff, the cleaning and painting got done in time for the near 200 students per day that would be coming that following week. “My hope is that this starts a chain reaction for people wanting to get out in the community and give some of their time,” Bowen said.
