Well, another winning Sexual Assault Awareness Month or "SAAM" is in the books!!

We greatly appreciate the participation from over 325 members who ran/walked the race and for those volunteering to help host this event! An extra special "thank you" to the Company Grade Officer's Council, 1st Sgt's Council, the Commissary, and the 80th FTW...I know you are solicited for many things, and we thank you for considering our cause.

April was big for the SAPR office for another reason - we launched the Teal Rope program, which features our Students Against Sexual Assault & Harassment (SASH) team. SASH members serve as ambassadors for information and referral to the SARC and the teal rope provides a visual reminder that help is only "a wingman away!"

We here in the SAPR office are focusing our efforts on primary levels of prevention that work to stop sexual assaults before they occur. The key to prevention is for all Airmen to be engaged and committed to stopping these crimes before they occur by intervening when they witness situations or circumstances that lead to sexual assault.

You can't just memorize the core values, you've got to "live them," and that means making the uncomfortable decision to step up and step out when necessary. Do it once, and you will actually see how easy it is and others around you will be the beneficiaries!

Remember, we're here for you 24/7, so if you feel that you've been a victim of sexual assault, call us at 676-7272. See you in the classroom!

Val, Chief SARC
