Well, here it is, another New Year has passed... I think it's true, the older you get, the faster the time goes, but does that mean you get smarter with age?

As you settle in to honor your New Year's resolutions, I want to make sure that I begin this article by honoring the Company Grade Officer's Council, Chief's and First Sergeant's Groups with a huge "thank you" for stepping up during the last year and assisting our program with their time, money, and energy - you are greatly appreciated!

With that, I am happy to report that the number of reported sexual assaults at Sheppard Air Force Base have decreased, but we still have lots of work to do to ensure we keep this trend going...it will only continue if we treat each other with respect, dignity, and with the obligation to be good wingmen - that means, when appropriate, making the tough decision to be an "active" bystander.

As you get back into the swing of things, challenge yourself to start the New Year with a new attitude and commitment to understand that "what hurts one, affects all!"

Your SAPR Office is here to help, and I can be reached 365 days, 24-7, at 940-676-7272 or through e-mail at valerie.cook@us.af.mil.

Until next month....

Val Cook, Chief SARC
