ESOHCAMP is coming ... Are you ready? Published July 24, 2007 By Richard Milhollon 82nd Civil Engineer Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- By now, everyone is aware the Environmental Safety Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program is coming, but are you ready? ESOHCAMP is an annual internal and external evaluation of how well an organization is in compliance with environmental regulations. This year's external ESOHCAMP assessment gets underway Aug. 20. Just like the old saying "Cleanliness is next to Godliness," most of us could stand to do a little house cleaning in our work areas. General house cleaning and sorting through our "excess stuff" goes a long way in making a positive impression. We all want to make an impact especially if that person or persons are here to evaluate our programs and the way we conduct our business. Are your recyclables in the right place? Are your containers clearly marked? Does everyone know where the closest recycling container/area is? Is the recycling area straight and clean? Does the newest person in your shop know where to find out information on environmental topics? Does you work area reflect the pride you take in your job? Sheppard has a proud history of being one of the best and is often used as an example, not only in Air Education and Training Command, but the Air Force. The saying "if you're not the leader, the view never changes" is very true and Sheppard has always been a leader. The 82nd Civil Engineer Squadron Environmental Flight is ready and willing to assist you if you have any questions. Recyclables in dumpsters is a common finding for the ESOHCAMP team so this year Sheppard would like to avoid that type of finding. Please police your areas, i.e., that means dumpsters too, for recyclables and place them in their proper container for the Qualified Recycling Program folks to pick up. ESOHCAMP is coming and there are three weeks left for us to prepare. Don't wait till the last minute ... are you ready?
