- Seeing his students earn their own wings

Airman’s story:

“I was born in Wisconsin and raised in south Florida,” Ziegler said. “I studied physics at New York University and worked as an accelerator physicist for four years before becoming an officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force. When not working, I spend time with my wife, 10 week old son, and run. I hope to attend test pilot school in the near future.”

Supervisor comments:

“Lieutenant Ziegler is an outstanding instructor and critical member of the 469th FTS student check section,” said Maj. Drew Voss, chief of check section. “On a daily basis he flies training and evaluation sorties, ensuring that future NATO pilots receive the highest quality instruction on their road to wings.”

“Additionally, Lieutenant Ziegler is responsible for scheduling all 469th FTS student evaluations as well as all 469th FTS Runway Supervisory Unit duties at the Air Force’s sixth busiest airfield,” he said. “Lieutenant Ziegler has also tirelessly volunteered to provide T-38 ejection seat training to ensure that all 80th Flying Training Wing instructors and students are properly trained to use the T-38 ejection seat.”
