SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
1st Lt. Jordan
Ziegler, 469th Flying Training Squadron check pilot and native of New York City,
has been in the Air Force for three and a half years and is the
Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of Dec.
6-12, 2016.
Most significant accomplishments:
- Earning his wings as a USAF pilot
- Seeing his students earn their own wings
Airman’s story:
“I was born in Wisconsin and raised in south Florida,”
Ziegler said. “I studied physics at New York University and worked as an accelerator physicist
for four years before becoming an officer and pilot in the U.S. Air Force. When not
working, I spend time with my wife, 10 week old son, and run. I hope to attend
test pilot school in the near future.”

“Lieutenant Ziegler
is an outstanding instructor and critical member of the 469th FTS student check
section,” said Maj. Drew Voss, chief of check section. “On a daily basis he
flies training and evaluation sorties, ensuring that future NATO pilots receive
the highest quality instruction on their road to wings.”
“Additionally, Lieutenant Ziegler
is responsible for scheduling all 469th FTS student evaluations as well as all
469th FTS Runway Supervisory Unit duties at the Air Force’s sixth busiest
airfield,” he said. “Lieutenant Ziegler has also tirelessly volunteered to
provide T-38 ejection seat training to ensure that all 80th Flying Training Wing
instructors and students are properly trained to use the T-38 ejection seat.”
