Boil Water Notice effective Nov. 15 Published Nov. 15, 2012 By 1stLt Lindsay Kotouch 82d Aerospace Medicine Squadron SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- In accordance with the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Sheppard AFB has been directed to issue a boil water notification effective 15 Nov 12 for the employees and patrons in the Wind Creek housing area, Sheppard AFB, TX 76311. This notification is required to inform you that on 15 Nov 2012, a broken section in the water main that required repairs, which caused a loss of pressure below 20 psi. Defense Support Services conducted the required repairs and have placed it back into service. The Bioenvironmental Engineering Office collected water samples to determine the state of the water quality and future actions (if required). Once these follow up actions are determined the boil water notice will be extended or rescinded in order to maintain the health and safety of the base population. Until this time, please follow the recommendations listed below to ensure your water is safe for consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, a discontinue notice will be issued in the same manner as this notice, i.e. email, base paper, public delivery to key facilities.
