Pistachios recalled due to salmonella

American Gourmet was informed by its pistachio supplier to initiate a voluntary recall because the pistachio may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella is a bacterium that makes people sick with diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps between 12 and 72 hours after infection. This illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Most individuals may recover without treatment however; the elderly, infants, and those with weak immune systems are likely to have a severe illness.
