As a precaution, CFR Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington is expanding its voluntary recall of frozen organic and traditional fruits and vegetables due to possible contamination of listeriosis. The recall now consists of all organic and traditional frozen vegetable and fruit products processed at the Pasco, Washington Facility since May 1, 2014.

Listeriosis is a serious infection usually caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium listeria monocytogenes. This is a concern as unlike most bacteria, listeria can grow and multiply in some refrigerated food items. Persons with listeriosis experience fever, muscle aches, diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. People at risk include pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that consumers do not eat, and restaurants and retailers do not serve or sell, recalled organic and traditional frozen vegetables and fruit products.

Product identification includes all best by dates of 04.26.16 thru 04.26.18 for all Frozen Vegetables and Fruit Items by CFR Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington. Please visit the FDA website for a full product identification list using the following link http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm498841.htm.
