Instructor of the Week: Lt. Nielsen

1st Lt. Robert Nielsen, 459th Flying Training Squadron assistant flight commander and native of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, has been in the Air Force for 10 years and is the Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of June 28 – July 4, 2016.

 

Most significant accomplishments:


  • ALS (Airman Leadership School) Levitow Award winner

  • OTS (Officer Training School) Honor Graduate

  • 459th Instructor Pilot of the Year, 2015


Airman’s story:


“I’ve been married 10 years and have two sons, six and three,” Nielsen said. “I spent six years as an enlisted Avionics Technician on F-15 and A-10s. I love my job and enjoy growing the combat pilots of tomorrow’s Air Force.”

“1st Lieutenant Nielsen is responsible for mentoring and instructing more than 100 future combat pilots per year for NATO’s prestigious multinational flying training program,” Capt. Matthew Burton, 459th flight commander.
