Reminder: Local Conditions/Traffic Safety Course Update

Effective Monday, July 11 at 4 p.m., the Safety Office will conduct the first consolidated Local Conditions/Traffic Safety Course. There will no longer be any Tuesday briefings at 1 p.m. Please ensure that your newcomer’s/TDY personnel inprocessing checklists are updated to reflect only the available Monday 4 p.m. briefings. This will go a long way towards minimizing confusion and reduce personnel showing up Tuesdays for a briefing that isn’t happening anymore. Again, this course is held at Building 558, Room 125.

Schedule Children Sports Physicals Now

Sheppard Clinic will perform sports physicals during children's annual well-child visit and/or by appointment only. If your child is participating in winter sports, such as basketball, or sports that begin practice before January, such as soccer, then please schedule a sports physical now. Please ensure you have completed the medical history portion of the sports physical paperwork prior to the appointment. Please bring your child’s glasses or contacts if worn for the vision test. These appointments can be scheduled by calling the 82 MDG appointment line at 676-1847.

If your child has had a well-child visit in the past year, our Pediatric Clinic will complete any sports physical paperwork based off that exam. Simply bring your paperwork to the front desk with the medical history portion completed.

Our staff will complete the physical exam portion of the paperwork within 72 hours. If you are unsure of the date of your child’s last physical exam, please contact 676-1847 and staff will provide you with this information.

If our appointment schedule does not meet your needs, providers in the community offer sports physicals for a nominal fee. TRICARE does not cover a sports physical as a benefit, so this cost will be an out of pocket expense. If your primary physician is in the community, please contact that office directly to schedule your child’s annual well physical.

The Texas UIL sport physical form is available at the following website:

TMO: PCS Season Has Begun

Permanent Change of Station season is already underway, and the Traffic Management Office is reminding all who are slated to move to contact them as early as possible. There is only one authorized moving company in the area, so the sooner you engage with TMO, the more likely you are to get your desired move date.

JPPSO has been receiving a lot of short notice shipments.  Please enforce a 3 weeks’ notice for ALL shipments with and through your local TMO.  Shipments requiring pick up in less than 3 weeks must be coordinated with the applicable JPPSO prior to submission (NOTE: Excludes applications for tech training students).  Lastly, please include an alternate pack/pick up dates from customers on ALL shipments.

For more information about PCS shipments, call the TMO Office at 676-5499.

Missile Road Construction Update

Due to the road construction to repair intersection of Missile Road and Avenue D/E, 20 MPH reduced speed limits will be erected 1000 linear feet in all directions from the intersection. This creates a safer condition for both construction workers and traffic in this area. Complete intersection repair will be accomplished in multiple phases, estimated completion 1 August 2016.

Drivers are asked to please respect barricades and exercise caution while driving around the construction area.  This project will be completed as quickly and as safely as possible, and we ask for your patience and cooperation during the construction period.

For questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Bobby Castleman by phone at (940) 676-7470 or email at bobby.castleman.ctr@us.af.mil
