SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
Staff Sgt. Allison
DeJesus, 82nd Dental Squadron dental laboratory technician and native of Omaha,
Nebraska, has been in the Air Force for seven years and is the Support
Airman of the week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of 2-8 Aug.
2016.
Most significant accomplishments:
- Airman Leadership School Distinguished Graduate
- Community College of the Air Force Applied Science degree
in Dental Laboratory
- Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ashford University with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Organizational Management.
Airman’s Story:
“I didn’t grow up in a military family, so joining the Air
Force was a big step for me to take,” DeJesus said. “I was 24 and had been
working a dead end job and felt like I had no purpose, so I decided to join the
Air Force and serve my country. I also married my husband one month before Basic
Training and we now have a 5-year-old daughter and another daughter on the way.
I was blessed to be assigned a job as a Dental Laboratory Technician, it fits
me well and I enjoy working with my hands to fabricate dental prostheses that
ensure the medical readiness of our Airmen. So far, I’ve been assigned at
Kadena Air Base, Japan and here at Sheppard Air Force Base. Both assignments
have been great and I’ve learned a lot. I even had the opportunity to be the
NCO in Charge this past year and manage the dental lab. I’m not sure what the
future holds for me, but I plan on doing my best in whatever life throws my
way.”

“Staff Sergeant
DeJesus’ outstanding dental lab ability impacts the training mission by producing
the best dental appliances,” said Tech. Sgt. Matthew Jefferys, dental lab NCO
in Charge. “Her timeliness and accurate prosthetics contribute to Airmen in Training
being back in the classroom faster and without dental pain.”
