Food recalls: Kellogg, Del Monte

Del Monte Foods recalls canned vegetables

Sager Creek Foods, Inc., a subsidiary of Del Monte Foods, Inc., announced a recall for possible allergen risk to shellfish. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this issue to date. If people do NOT have a shellfish allergy there is no risk to them.

Shellfish is an allergen that can cause serious and sometimes fatal reactions. Shellfish allergy symptoms differ from person to person and may include hives, watery eyes, swelling of face, lips, tongue and hands, coughing & wheezing, vomiting, diarrhea, or anaphylaxis.

If customers or consumers have any of the listed products with the indicated UPC codes and Best By dates, they should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund:

Kellogg Company recalls Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles

Kellogg Company recently announced a voluntary recall of Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles. The recall was initiated due to a possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes during routine testing. The company has recalled approximately 10,000 cases of the product that have a potential of being impacted by the contamination.

Listeria is a serious infection caused by Listeria monocytogenes  Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However, Listeria infection can be serious and sometimes fatal in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant woman.
