Support Airman of the Week: SSgt. Pickett

Staff Sgt. William Pickett, 367th Training Support Squadron cyber support programmer and native of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, has been in the Air Force for four years and seven months and is the Support Airman of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of Oct. 11-17, 2016.

 

Most significant accomplishments:  

 

Pickett’s most significant accomplishment has been marrying his wife and beginning his journey as a father.

Airman’s story:

 

“I spent a few years as a salesman because the money was decent,” Pickett said. “After buying my first house and with a baby on the way, I realized I had to be a part of something larger than myself to be happy and fulfilled. I walked into the recruiter’s office the next day and never looked back.”

Supervisor comments:

 

“Staff Sergeant Pickett provides administration and installation of 233 maintenance training courses reaching 81,548 students,” said Tech. Sgt. Brandon Van Veldhuizen, NCO in charge of client support. “He resolved 750 helpdesk tickets ensuring uninterrupted access to training material. Additionally, Sergeant Pickett custom-built the unit’s Evalutron system (an evaluation and discrepancy tracking tool).  His tireless efforts ensure the content and quality of the unit’s training products are consistent with Air Force core values.
