SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
1st Lt. David Winter,
459th Flying Training Squadron F flight military training officer and native of
Knoxville, Tennessee, has been in the Air Force for three years and is
the Instructor of the Week at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for the week of
Oct. 18-24, 2016.
Most significant accomplishments:
“My most rewarding moment as an instructor was getting to
pin the wings on one of my first students and being voted as the most valuable
instructor pilot for class 17-01,” Winter said. “It’s an extremely humbling
experience when the students you work hard for look back at you and say, ‘You
had the greatest impact on me during training.’”
Airman’s story:
“I grew up infatuated with the idea of flying,” he said. “I worked
hard to achieve that goal, and was blessed with the opportunity to attend the Euro-NATO
Joint Jet Pilot Training Program. At the end of Undergraduate Pilot Training the
Air Force decided the way I can best serve is to stay here as an instructor, so
that’s what I do. I focus on being the most effective instructor pilot possible
to train pilots for the NATO alliance. I have loved this assignment, and I look
forward to what the Air Force has next for me and my family.”

comments:
“Lieutenant Winter
is an extraordinary asset to the flight,” said Italian Air Force Maj. Giovanni
Pasqualucci, F flight commander. “He knows how to work with the chain of
command and get things done, and he takes charge of assigned students’
training. While under my supervision, he performed multiple jobs in the flight,
accomplishing all tasks efficiently. Despite his youth, he is a very strong instructor
pilot and sets the bar with his instructional techniques and manner of teaching
students.”
