Staff Sgt. Paul Pest (left) and Tech. Sgt. Michael Newton, 366th Training Squadron explosive ordinance disposal preliminary course instructors, prepare to detonate C-4 using a timed fuse at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, June 12, 2018. A timed fuse burns at a rate of 40 seconds per foot, however, environmental factors such as humidity can effect this burn rate. To mitigate environmental factors, Pest and Newton, performed a "test burn'" before conducting live demolitions. This allowed them to calculate exactly how much fuse would be required.
