AF selects 5 from Sheppard for promotion to E-9

SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas – Five Sheppard AFB senior master sergeants were among the 479 selected during the 18E9 promotion cycle to become part of the top 1 percent of the enlisted structure in the Air Force.

Those selected for promotion to chief master sergeant from Sheppard include Senior Master Sgts. Trip Wayne Bolding, 372nd Training Squadron; Christopher Craig, 82nd Communications Squadron; Keith Jones, 373rd TRS; Corey Park, 359th TRS, Eglin AFB, Florida; and Erlinda Schommer, 82nd Medical Support Squadron.

"Our Air Force recognized these outstanding Airmen for promotion to the top tier of our enlisted force and we are very proud of each of these Airmen," said 82nd Training Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Ronald E. Jolly Sr. "We look forward to their continued leadership as they take great care of Airmen and their families."

The Air Force considered 2,241 eligible senior master sergeants for promotion during the cycle for a selection rate of 21.37 percent. 

The average overall score for those selected was 494.05. Selectees' average time in grade was 2.92 years and time in service was 20.91 years. The average decorations score was 24.19 and the average U.S. Air Force Supervisory Exam score was 74.11. The average board score was 395.75.

A chief master sergeant release party will be Dec. 7, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. in the Sheppard Club.
