Fuels apprentice earns ACE award

9/18/2012 - SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Airman 1st Class Cameron Kila received the ACE award Sep. 18th during a graduation ceremony for the 364th Training Squadron's fuels apprentice course.

The ACE award is the highest academic honor a student can receive and is earned for exceptional performance by maintaining a perfect 100% average through the entire course.

The course consists of four blocks of instruction and is 31 academic days in length. The course provides training in the skills and knowledge necessary to perform tasks related to the receipt, storage, issue, and quality control of petroleum and cryogenic products.  Students also learn about Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) and Automated Data Collection (ADC) systems, along with the inspection, operation, and operational maintenance of storage and dispensing equipment to include fuel and hydrant servicing vehicles.

An introduction to special operations, mobility planning, Fuels Mobility Support Equipment (FMSE) and hands-on familiarization with Fuels Operational Readiness Capability
Equipment (FORCE) rounds out the course. 

Kila, who hails from Honolulu, is assigned to the Hawaii Air National Guard's 154th Wing at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
