In May 1994, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) guidelines, as part of the Defense Environmental Restoration Program Management Guidance.

The RAB initiative was to encourage increased community participation in the cleanup process between military installations and affected stakeholders. Sheppard adopted this guidance and created a RAB in 1995 in accordance with 32 Code of Federal Regulations 202, conducting regularly-scheduled meetings as required.

32 CFR 202.10(a)(1) states, "An Installation Commander may adjourn a RAB with input from the community when there is no longer a need for a RAB or when community interest in the RAB no longer exists."
Due to the maturity of the environmental restoration program and dwindling community participation, Sheppard informally adjourned the RAB in 2008.

This notice serves to officially notify the public of RAB adjournment and reassess community interest. Future public notices affecting stakeholders will be posted on the Sheppard public web site at http://www.sheppard.af.mil/.
