Michele Houck, second from left, is the 80th Flying Training Wing's Civilian of the Year, Category I. Mrs. Houck was recognized by wing leadership for her accomplishment of handling multiple schedules by prioritizing and rescheduling more than 1,800 appointments. She was also cited for implementing a new electronic staffing process for the 80th FTW as well as revising the wing administrative guide. Danny Dabbs is the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Civlian of the Year, Category III. Mr. Dabbs programmed 125 new civil engineering work orders and led the way in refurbishing the 89th and 90th Flying Training squadron's command section, including $77,000 renovations of the command sections' duty desks. Aside from the many renovation projects, Mr. Dabbs also improved himself professionally by completing 100 hours of environmental and computer training, as well as computer-aided drafting to provide the wing with an in-house drafting capability. Pam Glendening of the 80th Operations Group is the 2006 Civilian of the Year, Category II, for the 80th Flying Training Wing. Ms. Glendening is recognized for her abilities of maintaining the wing's training actions. She processed eight training review boards, 16 pilot elimination actions, 59 training review actions and six introduction to fighter fundamentals and pilot instruction training flight evaluation board packages. She also training over 80 new instructors on the training review process. Ms. Glendening is also active in the community, serving on the executive board of the Senior-Junior Forum in Wichita Falls. Capt. Ted Meek of the 88th Flying Training Squadron is the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Flight Commander of the Year. Captain Meek distinguished himself in 2006 by producing zero findings during the Operational Readiness Inspection. He authored a new 62-page introduction to fighter fundamental threat guide used by 156 pilots to build a basis for warfighter knowledge. Second Lt. Shawn Burke is the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Company Grade Officer of the Year. Lieutenant Burke set himself apart during his deployment to Mosul. The 80th Operations Group officer's abilities as a weather officer ensured weather forecasts were precise to enable the mission to continue. He also updated forecast reference notebooks. Back home, Lieutenant Burke was key in the planning stages of moving the weather section into its new home at the Airfield Operations Complex. He served as treasurer for Sheppard's Company Grade Officer Council and taught literature and folklore to a local Boy Scout Troop. Master Sgt. Gil De La Cerda is the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. The 80th Operations Support Squadron sergeant's oversight of the aviation resource management career field and technical expertise led to Excellent ratings for three flying squadron operations sections in the recent Operational Readiness Inspection. He was also hand-picked by the Air Education and Training Command Inspection Team for assistance during the week-long inspection. Sergeant De La Cerda is currently pursing a master's degree in human resource management. He served as president of the 80th FTW's Top 4, was a house captain for Christmas in Action and was key in the delivery of over 25,000 pounds of food to the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank. The 80th Operations Group's Staff Sgt. Sandra Spoon is this year's 80th Flying Training Wing Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. Sergeant Spoon was recognized for processing over 800 student action in the integrrated management system during the year. Her accomplishment helped the wing earn an Excellent rating during the recent Operational Readiness Inspection and she was one of four people recognized as an "exceptional performer." Sergeant Spoon is currently working on a bachelor degree and volunteers for programs such as Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Senior Airman Rhonda Cleavland, center, is the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Airman of the Year. The 90th Flying Training Squadron assumed all responsibilities of the squadron's standardization and evaluation requirements. She also volunteered to assist in the T-38 instructor program in the squadron. Maj. Patrick Isbell's performance during the recent Operational Readiness Inspection warranted his selection as the 80th Flying Training Wing's 2006 Instructor Pilot of the Year award. The 88th Flying Training Squadron officer was cited during the ORI for his exceptional leadership of the wing's weapon section, directly impacted the wing's overall Excellent rating. Maj. Isbell's commitment to excellence in training was evident in his implementation of Air Force weapons school concepts and academics in the squadron's training program.
