At Hoc Mobile App

The commander of Air Education and Training Command requires that all Airmen within the command register on the AtHoc system to ensure emergency notifications. The AtHoc mobile app is also required. Currently, only 2 percent of the base is registered for the mobile app and 25 percent for cell phone contact.

To register on AtHoc, select the purple globe in your notifications tray in Windows and select “Update My Info.” When you have completed that step, go back and select “Update My Devices.”

The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Follow the directions to register your device. The organization code for Sheppard is VNVM.

Spouse Appreciation Day

Military Spouse Appreciation Day is May 6 at the Solid Rock Café from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All military spouses are invited.

Breakfast will be served from 9-10:30 a.m., and lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sign-ups for nails, make-up and the relaxation room will be first-come, first-served.

Fitness classes, prizes and gifts will be available throughout the day. For information, call 676-4358.

Retiree Appreciation Day

Sheppard’s Annual Retiree Appreciation Day will be held May 13 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Building 430 (formerly the Community Activity Center).

The guest speaker will be retired Army Col. Tom Quintero, an Afghanistan veteran who has received the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star.

The first 150 retirees who register will receive a free goodie bag and lunch. Prizes, including AAFES and restaurant gift cards, will be offered along with a Military Working Dog demonstration and tours.

More than 20 booths will be available with information on TRICARE, legal services, survivor benefits, the Texas Veterans Commission and more.

TMO: PCS Season Has Begun

Permanent Change of Station season is already underway, and the Traffic Management Office is reminding all who are slated to move to contact them as early as possible. There is only one authorized moving company in the area, so the sooner you engage with TMO, the more likely you are to get your desired move date.

JPPSO has been receiving a lot of short notice shipments.  Please enforce a 3 weeks’ notice for ALL shipments with and through your local TMO.  Shipments requiring pick up in less than 3 weeks must be coordinated with the applicable JPPSO prior to submission (NOTE: Excludes applications for tech training students).  Lastly, please include an alternate pack/pick up dates from customers on ALL shipments.

Reports of Survey

Initiating Reports of Survey (ROS): IAW AFMAN 23-220, Chapter 5 Re-ports of Survey are required to be initiated within fifteen days from the date of the discovery of the loss. This includes IT equipment, equipment items, COMSEC, vehicles, and all other accountable property.

GSA Policy Change

Effective Feb. 1, 2016, the GSA Supply Acquisition Center stopped accepting orders below $3,500 as contracting regulations encourage customers to use their government purchase cards for these purchases. Base supply will continue to issue GSA items until stock is exhausted.

Government Vehicle Driver’s License

AF Form 171 is still required to add new vehicles to a driver’s license; a GOV license can be renewed via e-mail; and new arrivals to Sheppard need to activate their GOV license in the Transportation IT system (OLVIMS).  Contact your unit Vehicle Control Officer/NCO or Mr. Ron Crumb, 676-5300. for more information.

Equipment Turn-In

If you have equipment items that need to be turned in (CA/CRL or SPRAM account), contact Mr. Frank Perez, 676-5388 to begin the process.  Before bring over parts to turn-in, contact the supply inspector (676-5385/6632) to verify they can be accepted.

Pools Open May 27

The Sheppard AFB Pools will open for the summer on May 27. Daily entry fees are $4 for ages 16 and over and $3 for ages 4-15. Night swim is $5. Season passes are available for $50 for an individual or $80 for a family of 3. Airmen in Training monthly passes are available for $20.

Parents Day Out/Give Parents a Break

The Madrigal Youth Center will offer a Parents Day Out May 21 from 1-6 p.m. for youth aged 5-14 years. Cost is $20 for club members and $24 for non-members. Call the Youth Center at 676-5437 for information.

The Child Development Center will offer a Give Parents a Break afternoon, also on May 21 from 1-6 p.m., for children aged 1-6 years. Cost is $20 per child. Call the CDC at 676-2038 for more information.

Base-Wide Yard Sale

The 82^nd Medical Group Top 4 will sponsor a base-wide yard sale May 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Medical Group Parking Lot.

Space reservations made before May 7 are $20 per 22 x 7 foot parking spot, or $25 after May 7. Additional spaces available for $10 each.

No sales of firearms, knives, live animals, alcohol or prepared food. Water and snacks will be available for donations.

The sale is for those with base access only, or those who are properly sponsored on base.

Street Smart

Presented by Stay Alive From Education (S.A.F.E.), Street Smart was created by firefighters and paramedics to convey the importance of seatbelt use and the dangers of drinking and driving.

Events will be held at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on May 12 at the Base Theater, and are open to the entire Sheppard community, including children aged 15 or older with a parent.

TRICARE & Free-Standing Emergency Rooms

TRICARE/Humana Military Insurance does not cover use of emergency facilities not affiliated with a hospital. This includes the several stand-alone facilities that are coming on line in the local community.

TRICARE Beneficiaries who use these facilities will receive the bill and will not be reimbursed.

New Urgent Care Pilot Program

An Urgent Care Pilot Program allows Prime enrollees two visits to a network or TRICARE authorized provider without a referral or prior authorization.

The Urgent Care Pilot Program, scheduled to begin May 23, 2016, covers:

• Active Duty Family Members enrolled in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Prime Remote
• Retirees and their family members who are enrolled in Prime within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
• Active duty service members enrolled in TRICARE Prime Remote or stationed overseas but traveling stateside

Active Duty Service Members enrolled in TRICARE Prime are not eligible for this program.

There are no Point of Service deductibles or cost shares for these two urgent care visits, but network copayments still apply. Following a visit to an urgent care facility, you must notify your PCM of that care within 24 hours or the first business day after the urgent care visit. Authorization requirements have not changed for follow up care, specialty care or inpatient care.

When you are not sure of the type of care you need, or you require care outside of standard business hours, call the Nurse Advice Line (NAL). If the NAL recommends an urgent care visit, and a referral is submitted, that visit will not count against the two visits allowed under the Urgent Care Pilot. However, if you call the NAL and get a referral to a military hospital or clinic and you go elsewhere for care, that visit will count against your two preauthorized visits.
