Street Smart Driver Safety Presentation

The Street Smart Military Safety Initiative will present a driver safety program for all base personnel, including family members, Sept. 1 at 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Base Theater.

Presented by Stay Alive from Education, an organization founded by firefighters and paramedics, the program is dedicated to reducing injuries and fatalities due to drinking and driving and failure to use seatbelts.

Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has announced the 2016 Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance Program (FEGLI) Open Season, beginning September 1, 2016 through September 30, 2016. Eligible employees may elect to enroll in FEGLI coverage, if previously waived, or choose to elect or increase FEGLI Optional coverage. Elections or changes made during the 2016 FEGLI Open Season are not effective until October 1, 2017.

More information on the FEGLI Open season may be found on the myPers website at https://mypers.af.mil.

Feds Feed Families

Sheppard AFB is striving to donate 12,000 pounds of food to the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank to support local families in need during the Feds Feed Families Drive.

Last year’s donation: 11,944 pounds.

School Sports Physicals

The Sheppard Clinic Pediatric Clinic provides school and sports physicals by appointment at 940-676-1847. Please bring any school- or sport-specific forms to the appointment.

Airman & Family Readiness Events

FAA Testing

  • When & Where: every Wednesday (starting June 29) at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Building 402, Room 315E. Military members must be in uniform to test.
  • Members will be contacted ahead of the test date to remind them to bring the required documents (per FAA) on the test date.
  • Scheduling: All scheduling requests are made on the Air Force Virtual Education Center. Scheduling requests must be made 48 business hours in advance. Due to the length of the exam, some tests will only be offered at 8 a.m.
  • Cost: FAA exams are provided at no cost for Active/Guard/Reserve service members (for all branches of service) and their dependents. Military retirees, DoD civilians and Dept. of Homeland Security civilians.

Air Force Aid Society

Air Force Aid Society emergency assistance is available to Airmen and their eligible family members to meet immediate needs in an emergency situation. The Society provides interest free loans and grants based on the individual situation for needs such as:

  • Basic Living Expenses
  • Emergency Travel
  • Vehicle Expenses
  • Funeral Expenses
  • Medical/Dental
  • Child Care/Respite
  • Moving Expenses
  • Miscellaneous Expenses
