Col Om Prakash is Vice Commander, 82nd Training Wing, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. As the vice commander, he assists and advises the commander responsible for the training of more than 62,000 Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps students annually at Sheppard AFB and also through the wing's field training detachments located throughout the world. The 82nd TRW trains more than half of all of the Air Force's enlisted Airmen in career fields such as aircraft maintenance, logistics and civil engineering. The wing is made up of four training groups, a mission support group and a medical group. The 82nd TRW also provides support services to the 80th Flying Training Wing.

Colonel Prakash is a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, receiving his commission in 1989. He completed a masters of science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is a foreign area officer specializing in Japan and a distinguished graduate of the US Air Force Test Pilot School. He has commanded a flying squadron and flown more than 3,000 hours in over 50 types of aircraft. A command pilot, Colonel Prakash has flown 40 test missions in various aircraft and has over 260 combat hours in the F-15E. Prior to his current assignment he served as the military assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy, Pentagon VA.
